“It is through science that we prove, but through curiosity that we discover.”
Hello! I’m Ms. Sandi, the TK–5th Grade Science Specialist at Parkmead Elementary. I’m passionate about inspiring curiosity and a lifelong love of science in our Parkmead students.
Our youngest daughter, Chiara, is a Parkmead Panther and our 6th grader, Chloe, attends Walnut Creek Intermediate. My husband, Pat, is also an educator—he teaches Living Earth and Biomedical Science at Las Lomas High School. We’re proud to be a Panther/Squire/Knight family!
We moved to Parkmead in 2021 from Palos Verdes in Southern California.. I grew up in Los Gatos and graduated from Archbishop Mitty High School before earning my degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Arizona, graduating magna cum laude (Go Cats!).
My teaching journey began in a Reggio Emilia–inspired early childhood program, where I developed a deep appreciation for student-centered learning. Later, I ventured into the business world, where I led the launch of an international lifestyle brand created in collaboration with artists, musicians, and athletes from around the globe.
I’m thrilled to bring my diverse experiences back into the classroom to help students explore, question, and discover the wonders of science every day. As both a mom and an educator, I understand that each child has a unique life story. I'm here to support and guide our students as they grow both academically and developmentally.
I’m so grateful to be a part of the Parkmead community and to share in your child’s educational journey.
In gratitude,
Sandi O’Brien
